Ankored is the leading safety and compliance platform behind youth sports. We unify youth and adult compliance with federal, state, and governing body standards in one secure, purpose-built HRIS, helping clubs, leagues, parks and recreation departments, and community recreation centers automate background checks, safety training, waivers, and compliance tracking, so coaches and administrators can focus on the kids and the game.
No more jumping between registration, training, and background check systems. Ankored connects to the sports management tools you already use, giving you a single view of coach and player data. Players and families get a home for digital sports IDs, health forms, waivers, and emergency contacts.
Led by a team with 25+ years of startup experience, Ankored is a fast-growing sports tech company transforming how sports organizations operate and making a real impact on athlete safety nationwide.
If you share the same passion for safety in youth sports and are ready to support growth at a cutting-edge startup, join us as Vice President of Finance in our Boston office. You will own and lead the end-to-end finance function. This includes bookkeeping and monthly close, cash flow management, projections and scenario models, board reporting, and the analysis that help us know where to push and where to pull back. You’ll be hands-on with the ledger one day and in front of the board or investors the next. It's a full stack finance role that will expand over time and vacillates between strategy and tactical execution. Preferred location is Boston, MA but candidates in Minneapolis, MN will also be considered.
What you’ll do
-
Set financial goals and objectives with the management team and Board
-
Own finance and accounting end to end: month-end and year-end close, AR/AP, payroll, and tax coordination in QuickBooks
-
Run the administrative functions of the company (finance, legal, HR) with support from a PEO
-
Prepare and present clear, timely financial reports to management, the Board, and investors: monthly flash reports, quarterly reports, and annual financial statements
-
Lead budgeting and planning; manage cash flow, runway, and the 13-week forecast
-
Build and maintain the operating and fundraising models; run scenarios for pricing, hiring, and growth
-
Analyze unit economics, margins, and pipeline data in HubSpot and Stripe to identify and prioritize initiatives that increase shareholder value
-
Lead the annual audit and ensure tax and regulatory compliance
-
Manage lender and investor relationships, including fundraising support and diligence
-
Review, monitor, and report on incentive programs and sales commission plans with the management and sales teams
-
Support customer and vendor relationships and contract negotiations
-
Identify and implement AI and financial tools that help the company scale
Who you are
-
You want to work at a 30-person startup, and you know what that means, the good and the bad
-
6–10 years in startup finance, FP&A, or accounting, with a track record leading the finance function at fast-growing SaaS or recurring-revenue companies
-
Comfortable being the whole finance function, from entering an invoice to presenting to the board
-
AI-native: you already use Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to automate close, build models, and get to insight faster, and you’d rather build a tool than hire for a task
-
A clear thinker who can hold the strategic picture while executing the details
-
Analytical and direct: you bring recommendations, not just reports, and you change your mind when the data or a better idea says you should
-
Ambitious, with the judgment to grow into a CFO role
