Role Summary

The Director of Governance, Risk & Compliance is responsible for designing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring a comprehensive set of risk management strategies and processes to safeguard our Company’s assets, operations, and reputation. This role reports directly to the Vice President, Finance Operations and collaborates closely with executive leadership to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, mitigate risks, and uphold the highest standards of corporate governance. This new role will be a critical contributor as the company builds its workforce and business and will provide ample opportunities to grow with the company.

The Success You'll Build

  • Develop the Company’s Service Organization Control (“SOC”) reporting strategy in alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and client needs
    • Manage the preparation and issuance of the Company’s first SOC reports that are critical to the Company’s next stage of growth
    • Educate and train internal stakeholders on SOC requirements, controls, and reporting obligations
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Finance, Legal, Compliance) to document controls and ensure that they are effectively designed, implemented, and tested
    • Lead SOC readiness assessments and facilitate SOC audits conducted by external auditors
    • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of internal controls and remediation efforts identified through SOC audits
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on SOC reporting requirements, advising senior management and stakeholders on SOC compliance matters
  • Develop and implement comprehensive governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices
    • Perform an annual risk assessment with input from executive leadership. Work with Department leaders to prioritize risk mitigation initiatives to safeguard the organization's assets and reputation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance SOC reporting processes and controls.
    • Develop reporting for executive leadership and the Audit & Risk Committee
  • Support due diligence reviews with strategic business partners
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry trends to proactively adjust policies and procedures, including SOC standards

The Experiences and Competencies Necessary for Success

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Math, Economics, Technology, or similar field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including experience in a leadership role in business operations, technology operations, or within a public accounting firm
  • Solid understanding of risk management, policies, processes, and controls
  • Familiarity with cloud computing environments and related SOC considerations
  • Knowledge of other assurance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI DSS) and their relationship to SOC reporting
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels
  • Passion for the application of technology to streamline processes
  • Ability to lead remote teams while also making individual contributions
  • Nimble and able to adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated and effective when working independently
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or similar credentials
